The Curry goat traditional Jamaican curry served with rice and red beans is especially tasty, and can be teamed with a serve of the king prawn chupe with manchego crust, and maybe the eggplant and red onion salad on the side to balance it out.

As well as the breathtaking food menu, the cocktail and wine lists are equally as impressive. Following the same influences as the food, the wines are predominantly sourced from Central and South America, the casa lapostolle cab sav is particularly delightful. Kylie and JP met five years ago on a beautiful afternoon at Sounds on Sunday at the Greenwood Hotel in North Sydney. Due to her study commitments, Kylie’s girlfriends had to work hard to convince her to accompany them on the outing. Of course, Kylie was delighted that she eventually agreed, or she may never have met JP, or experienced that bolt from the blue, known as love at first sight.

The couple were in Rio de Janeiro towards the end of a lengthy trip around Europe and South America when JP announced that he had organised a special day for them both: lunch, shopping and a few cocktails on the beach.

Before dinner they decided to stroll along the beach to watch the sunset at famous Aprador Point. Although poor weather spoiled the sunset, JP insisted they keep walking to the Point, where, to Kylie’s complete astonishment and utter delight, JP went down on one knee. The pair celebrated with champagne and excited (and expensive) phone calls home to share their news.

Kylie and JP’s wedding day was marked by a whirlwind of emotions, from exuberant excitement to tears of joy and Kylie was so nervous on the way to the church that she could hardly speak. However, those nerves magically disappeared the moment she stood next to JP at the altar, looking radiant in her fairytale gown.

The couple agree the whole day was perfect in every way, and that they wouldn’t change a single detail. Fortunately, despite dire predictions of rain in the lead up to their special day, the weather proved to be in their favour for the entire day. The photo shoot on a private boat on Sydney Harbour resulted in some unforgettable images… and not a drop of rain in sight!

Reception table decorations included romantic glass candelabra, while bud vases with gardenias and arrangements of pretty white flowers decorated the bridal table. The couple’s two-tier cake was simple, but elegant, with white icing, a silver ribbon around the base, and a personalised cake topper that added a decidedly cute touch.

After a recent experience with cancer in the family, Kylie and JP opted for a gift to the Cancer Council in place of bomboniere, and had cards printed to let their guests know that a donation had been made on their behalf.

It was over ten years ago that Meredith and Jonathon first met at Auckland University. After being friends for a year or more, they shared their first kiss on New Year’s Eve, 2001. Jonathon chose a snowboarding trip in Whistler, Canada for his romantic proposal. After a day on the slopes, the couple enjoyed dinner and drinks before strolling through the snow-clad village, stopping to make snowballs along the way. It was then that Jonathon hugged Meredith and asked her to marry him. It didn’t take her long to get over her complete surprise and say “Yes”.

After living in New York for eight years, the couple decided on a quirky, eclectic wedding day style that combined New York City glamour with Sydney harbourside sparkle.

The inspiration for their grey, white and yellow colour scheme came from an abstract painting that Jonathon had bought in Quebec. Yellow is also the colour particularly dear to Meredith’s heart as her father had given her mother yellow roses early in their courtship.

Meredith and Jonathon wanted to recognise the traditional elements of a wedding day, but to do so in an unexpected way. Their ceremony was held in the same church in which Meredith’s grandparents had married, with Meredith looking divine in her gorgeous strapless, black-sashed Vera Wang gown from the designer’s Spring 2011 collection.

As most of the couple’s guests had travelled from overseas to celebrate with them, Meredith and Jonathon created a day that allowed them to share as much time as possible with their friends and family.

Hiring an old ferry to carry everyone across Sydney Harbour from the church to the reception venue proved to be a great way of capturing some stunning photos while staying close to their guests. Instead of a formal wedding table, the couple created a relaxed, communal feel at their reception with two long dining tables.

Canapés were served on a balcony decorated with black lanterns, and two large floral arrangements brought from the church graced the bar area. Wire candleholders and etched glass votives were scattered around the bar and tables, and on the end of the bar perched a large black wire birdcage which was used as a wishing well. For a glamorous finishing touch to their eclectic reception decorations, a black crystal chandelier hung above the dance floor.

Wine Room

The Wine Room is a magnificent two-storey loft private dining space, situated on the ground floor with a capacity to host up to 30 guests on one table, it features an impressive six-metre floor to ceiling working wine cellar.

This interactive space is concealed behind frosted glass walls and is ideal for all levels of corporate or private dining functions and events. A rectangular shaped dining table rests upon a hand woven leather carpet, inlaid on polished concrete, whilst overhead warm light filters from a striking custom-made glass pendant sculpture, suspended high above from the ceiling.

Other features include artworks by Australian artist Mark Venice; he has been commissioned to paint a two metre high, bi-folding standing screen. An adjoining outdoor terrace is available for pre and post lunch/dinner drinks.
The Arcadia Room

Arcadia Room

Is a stylish and intimate dining space situated on the first floor of the restaurant, designed to host up to twenty guests, on two tables, for private, corporate and boardroom entertaining.

The Arcadia Room offers a warm space with its original timber beams and steel trusses subtly lit from above; this room promotes a wonderful vantage point to take in the full essence of Flying Fish and its striking surrounding harbour views.

Other features include heritage timber-slatted walls; classic boxed framed windows and original flooring, each positioned alongside a collection of modern artworks. Views of the six-metre high working wine cellar can also be taken in from here.
